Due to the high criticisms over NightFest, which is to be held at the Secretariat Building on February 11 and 12 has been postponed until further notice, according to a press release made on February 8.

In response to the public criticisms and to show respect to the public, the NightFest had been postponed for a unlimited amount of time and those that had already bought tickets will be refunded, according to Signature Night Market Planning Company and organizing committee.

Those that had bought stall spaces to open shops at the NightFest  can contact the Secretariat Building management for information.

Previously, the two-night-long night market was planned to include food stalls, wine and traditional Khaung Yay or other alcoholic beverages as well as a concert. But, it has come under heavy criticism from the public for holding such a commercial event a the historical Secretariat Building.

It was initially planned to be organized by the Signature Night Market Event Planning Company, the United States Department of Agriculture Myanmar and SY Group.

it is one of the most significant buildings in Myanmar as the very first declaration of independence was held in it. Furthermore, General Aung San and his comrades were assassinated and massacred at the building in 1947.
