Myanmar’s Union Minister for Home Affairs, Lieutenant General Nyunt Win Swe, attended the opening ceremony of the 2026 Global Public Security Cooperation Forum (Lianyungang) and delivered a speech in Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province, China.

The forum, organized this year by the China Association for Friendship, was held under the theme “Unite to Advance Public Security Governance, Bring Stability to a Turbulent World.” More than 2,100 delegates from 139 countries, regions and international organizations attended the event.

In his address, Lieutenant General Nyunt Win Swe highlighted the need to strengthen regional and international cooperation in ensuring public security, upholding the rule of law and combating transnational crime. He also called for greater practical cooperation in drug control and counter-terrorism efforts.

The forum also features eight thematic sessions focusing on issues of international concern, including migration management, international drug control, counter-terrorism, cyber security, public security technologies and equipment, international police education and training cooperation, travel security, and international security services.

During the forum, the Global Security Index Report 2025–2026 and the Global Public Security Cooperation Forum (Lianyungang) Annual Report 2025–2026 are scheduled to be released. Participants will also visit the Third Public Security Technology Exhibition.

The Global Public Security Cooperation Forum (Lianyungang) was first held in 2022. With support from China’s Ministry of Public Security, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other organizations, the forum has continued to promote practical security cooperation among participating countries.
