Myanmar citizens in Singapore are started to give advance votes for 2020 general election today, according to Myanmar embassy.
A polling booth is opened from 9 am to 5:30 pm daily between October 1 and 18 at Myanmar embassy in Singapore announced the embassy.
The eligible voters need to register for the time to give vote at the embassy website in advance before came to cast advance vote.
“I am not free today and I booked for the day which will be my off-day,” said Pyae Sone working in Singapore.
The embassy warned they will not let in people whose body temperature is over 37.5°C as they are following COVID-19 guidelines set by Singaporean government.
Union Election Commission handed 188 ballot papers on September 18, 20,426 ballot papers on September 23, 43,422 ballot papers on September 24 and 37,490 ballot papers on September 25 to Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
A total of 101,526 ballot papers are handed to the ministry for overseas workers.
Polling booths will be opened at Myanmar embassies in foreign countries in early October.
