Myanma Posts and Telecommunications (MPT) topped the list of commercial tax payers on call charges over a three-year period with over K118 billion, according to Public Accounts Committee of the Union Parliament.
The committee said that Ooredoo Myanmar is the lowest commercial tax payer among three operators: MPT, Telenor Myanmar and Ooredoo Myanmar.
MPT paid over K40 billion in 2016-17 FY, over K53 billion in 2017-18 FY and over K23 billion in mini budget year with a total of over K118 billion in three fiscal years.
Telenor Myanmar paid over K29 billion in 2016-17 FY, over K28 billion in 2017-18 FY and over K14 billion in mini budget year with a total of over K71 billion in three fiscal years.
Ooredoo Myanmar paid over K55 billion in 2016-17 FY, over K15 billion in 2017-18 FY and over K6 billion in mini budget year with a total of over K27 billion in three fiscal years.
On the other hand, Myanmar Economic Corporation (MEC) paid over K947 million in 2016-17 FY, over K1 billion in 2017-18 FY and over K345 million in mini budget year with a total of over K24 billion in three fiscal years.
The government earned about K220 billion from four above mentioned companies in three fiscal years.
