Myanmar National Human Right Commission (MNHRC) is going to open its third branch office in Sittwe, Rakhine State in May, said Yu Lwin Aung, member of the MNHRC .

The plan of opening the branch office is due to the accusations made from both sides. It is not because of the current clashes taking place between Tatmadaw and AA armed group but because of resuming security measures by Tatmadaw in the wake of ARSA terrorist attacks, said Yu Lwin Aung.

“It has nothing to do with the clashes broke out between Tatmadaw and AA. The problem started with ARSA terrorist attack. ARSA and Bengali are accused of violating human rights against ethnic people. There are allegations that Tatmadaw violated human rights against Bengalis. Rakhine State is prioritized to open the branch office,” said Yu Lwin Aung.

The temporary branch office will be open in Sittwe. Rakhine State Government gave the green light to the plan. It has been in preparation of appointing staff.

“The temporary branch office will be open in Sittwe at the end of May. The permanent branch office man be in the coming year. We will have to ask for budget,” said Yu Lwin Aung.
