Dhaka (The Daily Star) - A fire that broke out at a 10-storey building in Dhaka’s Mirpur-14 area has been brought under control.

Two firefighters fell sick after inhaling smoke as they were trying to douse the fire, said Maj Shakil Newaj, director (operation) of the fire service.

They were rushed to a nearby clinic for treatment, he said.

The fire originated at a godown on the sixth floor of the building “Khan Mansion & City Park”, reports our staff correspondent from the spot.

At least 15 fire fighting units brought the flame under control after their two-and-half hour hectic efforts around 7:30pm.

The fire did not spread as firefighters sprayed water on the other floors, Maj Shakil said.
