KTV in Thahton raided, staff and customers charged for violating COVID-19 regulations

Due to the opening of Karaoke Bar (KTV) and breaching regulations during COVID-19 period in Thahton, the shop manager, including customers of 19 people, were booked under section 25 of Natural Disaster Planning Act.  

The Sunday KTV station in Myenigon village, Thahton on the Yangon-Mawkamyine highway, reopened despite orders to not open during the COVID-19 period.

Acting on information received, authorities from Thahton Township inspected the Sunday KTV at 3am on 26 December. In room No S-1.they found 5 KTV hostesses and 5 patrons, and in room No S-2 they found 3 KTV hostesses and 3 patrons. The station manager U Win Htein Aung and 2 staff from the station have also been booked.    

In connection with the opening of the KTV station in breach of orders and instructions by the ministry concerned during the COVID period, the station manager, two workers, 8 KTV hostesses, and 8 patrons were all booked under the Natural Disaster and Planning Act 25, said the deputy police chief of the Thahton Police Station, Maung Maung.   

It was learnt from the police station that beer bottles, speakers, TV and amplifiers and other related items were also seized from the KTV.
