The construction of Minthan-Maunghlaw Bridge across the Taninthayi River at a cost of Ks13,910 million (over 13 billion) has finished by 27 percent only, according to the ministry of construction. 

The Aninthayi River flows between Myeik and Kyunsu townships in Taninthayi Region. The bridge under construction is also called Taninthayi Bridge. 

“The bridge construction has now been completed by 27 percent. The project started in 2018. Depending on budget availability, we can say when the project will finish. The bridge connects Minthan Village in Myeik Township and Maunghlaw in Kyunsu Township,” said Win Aung, assistant director of the construction team 4 of the bridge department under the construction ministry. 

The bridge is 2,100 feet (640 metres) long with a 22 feet wide motor road and a 26-foot clearance height. The project is being implemented with the funds from the union rural road development department and the regional rural road development department. Currently, bole piles are being constructed. The bridge is of concrete type.  

The construction of the bridge spanning Myeik and Kyunsu townships started on December 1, 2018.
