Houses destroyed by strong wind in Wuntwin Towship

Strong wind  hit five village tracts in Wuntwin Township, Meikhtila on April 25 evening leaving seven houses destroyed, roofs of a monastery, 62 houses and four school building were overturned while a cow died according to a regional MP.

“Destructions occurred in Myaungbin village, Chinthaelet village, King Village which are within  my constituency no (1). Roof tops were overturned, four lamp-posts were destroyed and a cow died during heavy wind. We’ve submitted data collected so far to make assistance to the villagers, said Wuntwin Township MP Aung Thu on April 26. 

“It was like a tornado. Roof tops were destroyed and flown to faraway places. The cow was hit by a flying roof  and died. People in destroyed houses are now living with their relative’s houses. Compare with the villages hit by strong wind, Nyungbinn village  was the hardest hit,” said villager Ko San.

“Fire services department together with auxiliary fire services members from Wuntwin went to strong wind hit areas and cleared the debris,” said Kyaw San from Meikhtila Fire services department.

Strong wind saw trees uprooted and blocked roads, damaged houses. Fire fighters and villagers are joining the relief efforts.

Strong wind usually hit Wuntwin end of April and early May.
