Owner of House of Orchid (formerly known as Orchid Hotel) Htay Aung has told a press conference that he would stand for 2020 general election as an independent candidate in Kawhmu Township Lower House Constituency.

The press conference took place at the hotel in Pazudaung Township and Htay Aung revealed the information about his plan to compete in the election and his political aims.

He said he was planning to enter politics by contesting elections as the incumbent government’s management seems to be poor and he wants to build friendship with various political parties.

“If I am able to enter politics, I will try to make sure that the government, the people and the military are in oneness. I say so because I don’t want to see ourselves waste our time as some say there are two governments in this five-year term.

Htay Aung said he had built friendship with the National Politics Democratic Party led by retired Lieutenant General Soe Maung and the Union Solidarity and Development Party, which recognizes him as an independent candidate to run for election.

He said the Union Betterment Party led by Thura Shwe Mann and People’s Pioneer Party led by Dr Thet Thet Khaing were also his friends.

He added that he did not regard the ruling National League for Democracy as an enemy.
