The Representative Committee for the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw issued a statement on 9th February, requesting the State Administration Council not to use force to counter the peaceful protests staged by the people nationwide.
The statement of the Representative Committee for the Pyidaungsu Hluttaw was to declare their opinion on the peaceful protests by the people denouncing the seizure of power by the military.
The Committee believed that peaceful Civil Disobedience Movement by the people in defiance of unlawful order was to show that the state power is in the hands of the people and that they actually are the owners of the state power, and that it is to safeguard their rights.
The Committee has requested civil servants not to go to work and to take active part in the Civil Disobedience Movement. The Committee also stated that various organizations have been formed to help with the food and lodging issues of those taking part in the CDM.
In addition, the statement request has been made to the State Administration Council not to use force to counter the people who have joined in the peaceful demonstrations nationwide, and has asked the responsible persons including the police force to safeguard the rights of the people.
