Hinthada faces trees damage and road closures amidst rain and strong winds

Reports emerged detailing extensive trees damage and road closures in Hinthada, both within and outside the city limits, as a result of heavy rain and strong winds on the evening of May 8.

Numerous incidents occurred in various locations outside the city, with fallen trees and broken branches obstructing roadways. Notable among these was a Sein-ban tree, measuring six feet in diameter and 25 feet in length, which toppled near the court. Additionally, a Padauk tree fell near the station, further impeding traffic flow.

In response to the crisis, both fire brigade personnel and volunteers from social organizations in the town mobilized to clear the affected areas. Outside the city, local residents also pitched in to assist with clearance efforts, highlighting the community's resilience in the face of adversity caused by the adverse weather conditions.

Aung Phyo Kyaw, representing the Hinthada District Social Organization Network, recounted the impact of recent weather conditions characterized by moderate rain accompanied by strong winds. Traveling back from a neighboring village, they encountered slippery roads due to the rain, which led to multiple instances of fallen trees and broken branches along various routes.The extent of the damage was widespread, with incidents occurring in numerous locations, not limited to just one or two areas. Main roads were also affected, necessitating temporary closures to ensure public safety. Despite swift efforts by locals to clear the debris, one unfortunate car accident was reported during this period.

Notably, this rainfall marks the first significant precipitation experienced in Hinthada during the current hot season, highlighting the unusual weather patterns affecting the region.
