When a certain Covid-19 vaccine recognized by the WHO emerges, Myanmar will make it available for sure as the government has made contact with relevant organizations, said honorary Professor Dr Nyunt Thein from the Ministry of Health and Sports.

“According to the WHO data in September, over 140 of more than 200 departments in 20 countries are developing vaccines. Of them, 29 vaccines have reached human trials and nine have reached the final stage. Plainly speaking, vaccines can be safely available for humans by the end of this year or early next year. Recently, Russia developed a vaccine. The WHO and CDC have not given it a full guarantee,” the professor said.

He added that when it comes to vaccines, there are relevant organizations such as COVAX, Gavi and CEP with which the State Counsellor has made contact.

He reassured that if vaccines come out across the globe, Myanmar will make them available for sure.
