H1N1 death toll reaches 108

Till 2 September, the number of H1N1 death toll reached 108 with Yangon topping the list with 68 deaths,  according to the figures from the Ministry of Health and Sports.

One each death were reported in Magway and Mandalay.

Out of 429 patients with Influenza Like illness, 108 patients were found to have A (H1N1), 19, A (H3N2) and 18, Influenza B. Out of 1,094 Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) patients, 425 patients were found to have A (H1N1), 32 patients, A (H3N2) and 47 patients, Influenza B.

An official of the Central Infectious Diseases Control Division under the Public Health Department said: “A total of 1,521 patients conducted the laboratory tests. There were 648 laboratory-confirmed patients.”

The total number of death toll reached 108—68 in Yangon, 13 in Ayeyawady, ten in Bago, four each in Magway and Sagaing, three in Mon, two in Rakhine, one each in Kachin, Mandalay, southern Shan and Taninthayi.”
