The government should declare that three armed groups of Northern Alliance are terrorist organisations as they attack on civilian targets. If they were declared to be terrorist organisations, they are unauthorized to go the peace table, said Colonel Khun Okkar, Patron of the PNLO.
The remarks came from the Patron of the PNLO told the journalists after the opening ceremony of PaO National Youth Conference (Mon State) held in Thaton, Mon State on September 7.
"Kachin and Wa do not represent Northern Alliance and they declare they are nothing to do with the ongoing clashes taking place between the government army and the Northern Alliance. These three armed groups attacked on soft target firstly and civilian target secondly, it is also the softer target. Geneva Convention states that any organizations don't have to attack on ambulances and rescue teams. It is a global practice. The ambulance was deliberately attacked and those who were carrying out rescue measures were dead. It is a terrible act to tarnish the image," said Colonel Khun Okkar.
It is required to return to brighten the tarnished image. Therefore, Kengtung meeting has become an alternative cure and is scheduled on September 16 and 17. All are waiting for how to heal the injury with interest, said Colonel Khun Okkar.
"The Northern Alliance is still lucky because the government has not declared yet that they are terrorist organizations. They attacked on ambulances and civilian targets and they are terrorist acts. If they are declared to be terrorist organisations legally and the parliament approves the declaration, they are unauthorized to come to the peace table. In this state, if they are unauthorized to come to the peace table, the government must get rid of them. It is to fight them," said Colonel Khun Okkar.
