Efforts to build genuine political dialogue and peace will not be possible as long as there is a lack of desire to resolve political issues in the right political way and with the right mindset, KNU Chairman General Saw Mutu Say Poe said in a message to the 2761st Karen National New Year, which will fall on January 2, 2022.

Oppression and injustice are the result of a lack of recognition of equal rights. In addition, it causes conflict and unrest between one race and another and between the ruler and the ruled people. The best way to resolve different opportunities, political issues and conflicts is through peaceful political dialogue. The KNU has always demanded a political solution. However, the KNU chairman said that successive rulers had no political will and no good political ideology.

The KNU understands that it will not be possible to build internal peace without a ceasefire and a solution to political problems. Therefore, the KNU should be able to discuss the ceasefire and political issues peacefully through political means and to establish a federal democratic union with equality and self-determination and have invested a lot of time and money in building internal peace for the welfare of the people and the development of the country. The KNU is cooperating with political parties, ethnic resistance groups and people. The people and the international community had provided a lot of support and cooperation from the KNU, he said.

However, the KNU's efforts were in vain as the Tatmadaw regained power. As long as there is no political will to resolve political issues in the right way and in the right spirit, genuine political dialogue and efforts to build internal peace will not succeed. It was obvious that the younger generation was aware of the situation and the reality of the armed struggle, he said.

Due to the current situation, all our Karen national organizations must stand firm for their national cause and work together for the future life and development of the Karen people. In the current political situation, every Karen, who considers himself a Karen, must work for the Karen national interest, he urged.
