Authorities have taken legal action against the owner and responsible staff of Min Thant (1) fuel station in Phar Auk Village, Mawlamyine Township in Mon State, for allegedly selling fuel illegally using barrels, according to reports.

At around 6:00 p.m. on March 13, officials conducted an inspection at the Min Thant (1) fuel station, located along the Mawlamyine–Mudon road in Phar Auk Village, Mawlamyine Township, after receiving information that fuel was being stored but not sold. During the inspection, authorities measured fuel storage tanks for petrol and diesel at the station and also checked a nearby compound adjacent to a timber factory, where fuel tankers were found. However, no fuel was discovered inside those tankers upon inspection.

Instead, authorities found fuel barrels loaded on three vehicles within the compound: a white NISSAN CONDOR truck (license MON-4/3F-2294) carrying 46 barrels (approximately 1,700 gallons of petrol),

A white MITSUBISHI CANTER truck (license MON-4/4P-4283) carrying 14 barrels (approximately 636 gallons), ablue MITSUBISHI CANTER truck (license MON-4/4P-5860) carrying 14 barrels (approximately 560 gallons).

In total, 74 barrels containing about 2,896 gallons of petrol, valued at approximately 43.44 million kyats (calculated at 15,000 kyats per gallon), were seized. The barrels and vehicles were transported to Mupun Police Station for further handling.

A source close to the security forces said inspections were carried out following complaints that the station had received its allocated fuel quota but remained closed without selling fuel. Investigations revealed that fuel from tankers was not being transferred into the station’s storage tanks but instead poured into barrels and sold separately.

In connection with the case, Min Thant fuel station owner U Hla Win Khine, general manager U Min Ye Htun, and station manager U Zaw Min Aung have been charged at Mupun Police Station under Case No. (P)49/2026, Section 39(a) of the Petroleum and Petroleum Products Law.

Previously, on March 5, authorities also seized fuel being illegally transported to Kayin State at the Sampal Gu Bridge security checkpoint in Kyaikmaraw Township. Two individuals—the owner of the “Mi Ba Myitta” fuel station in Nyaung Pin Seik Ward, Mawlamyine, U Myint Zaw Oo @ Zaw Oo), and the station manager Ko Ko Lat—were arrested and charged under the same law.

Similarly, in Mawlamyine, officials discovered that fuel was being sold from the warehouse of the “Swan Myanmar” fuel station on University Circular Road in Zay Kyo Ward using containers. The station owner U Sein Tin (@Kar Sin and warehouse officer Ko Zeya Min were also charged under the Petroleum and Petroleum Products Law.
