A pick-up carrying Myanmar and Thai workers crashed into a roadside tree in Prachuap Kiri Khan Province in southern Thailand on the evening of January 31, killing four and injuring 11, according to news from Thailand.

They are returning from a construction site from Prachuap Kiri Khan Province. A total of 15 Thai and Myanmar workers were on the vehicle, it is reported.

“The accident occurred at the southern Thailand. Four were killed and 11 were injured. In the beginning of 2024, four car accidents occurred within a month. Six Myanmar nationals were killed and 47 were injured. Among the four car accident, one case was illegally entering Thailand and from that, 8 were injured. The rest three car accidents were occurred on route to work in Thailand. The dead and injured are entitled to Thailand law. As they are migrant workers, they need to show respective documents to Human Resources Development Foundation Thailand (HRDF) or labour attaché office in Thailand and ask for compensation,” said U Moe Gyo, Chairman of Joint Action Committee for Burmese Affairs (JACBA).

He said that for the deceased, funeral cost Thai Baht 20,000 must be asked and after showing documents, morality benefits of Baht 500,000 to 15 million must be entitled to obtain.
