About 50 former members of the National League for Democracy (NLD), including former MP Daw Sanda Min, have joined the National Democratic Force (NDF) party and plan to contest in the upcoming election, according to NDF Vice Chairman U Htet Aung Kyaw.

He said that former NLD lawmakers who won in past elections will run again in their respective constituencies. Notable candidates include Dr. Aung Khin, who twice won the Pyin Oo Lwin seat in 2015 and 2020, and U Zaw Min Oo, former MP for Lewe. Daw Thida Maung is also set to contest for the Pyin Oo Lwin seat in the national parliament.

Daw Sanda Min, who previously won in the 2012 by-election and the 2015 general election under the NLD, has been appointed as NDF’s Vice Chair (2). Dr. Aung Khin now serves as Chairman of the party’s Upper Myanmar Organizing Committee, while Dr. Myo Set Thway, a former People’s Pioneer Party member, has joined NDF as a Central Executive Committee member.

The NDF said it welcomes individuals from any background who aim to work for democratic change and build the country through lawful means.
