Forced marriage tops the list of human trafficking

There were 18 reported human trafficking cases in October, according to a statement by Anti-Human Trafficking Police.

There were 54 culprits (21 males and 33 females) and 22 victims (one male, 19 females and two children). 

In October, six cases were reported in Yangon Region, three each in Mandalay and Ayeyawady Regions and two each in Shan State, Kachin State and Bago Region. 

Yangon topped the list of human trafficking cases with 33 per cent, followed by Mandalay and Ayeyawady Regions with 17 per cent and Shan State, Bago Region and Kachin State  with 11 per cent each. 

The cases are linked to prostitution and forced labour in the country and forced marriage in China. 

Forced marriages with Chinese citizens topped the list of trafficking cases.
