A fire broke out at a landfill site on Detour Road in Hintada, where waste fuel is existed and it took several hours to put out the fire, sources said.

The fire started at about 12 pm on April 11 and the firefighting process was still being carried out until about 4 o'clock in the evening.

"The field where the landfill site located is quite large. There are also tires in the dump. There are also other household waste fuels. There are many garbage fuels. There are many flames and smoke. The smoke is also howling. In the afternoon, the sun is hot and the field is also windy. We are dividing the dump and extinguishing the fire in order to control the spread of the fire," an official from the Fire Services Department answered.

The Fire Services Department and volunteers provided necessary assistance.

"The smoke could be seen even from the city. When we arrived, we saw the flames rising. The smoke was thick. Our team had oxygen and an ambulance ready to help the firefighters in case of emergency. A search and rescue vehicle also left and helped them. We also distributed drinking water and masks to the fire fighters," said Nyi Min Khant, a volunteer from the Hintada District Charity Network Office.

Firefighting vehicles and water bowsers from various fire stations arrived at the scene of the fire. They have to fill the water in turn and extinguished it.
