Fighting in northern Shan State displaces over 10,000 people

The number of people displaced by the war has increased to over 10,000 due to the fighting in Lashio, Kutkai, Kyaukme, Hsenwi, Mogok and Muse townships in northern Shan State, according to the people helping the refugees.

Due to the fighting between the Tatmadaw and the three northern alliances that started on October 27 in northern Shan State, the number of people who fled the war increased to more than 10,000 within five days till November 1.

There are 6,455 refugees in 13 monasteries and churches in Lashio town, over 1,000 refugees in Kutkai Township, 446 refugees in Kyaukme Township, over 3,000 refugees in Hsenwi Township, 250 IDPs in Mogok Township and 220 IDPs in Muse Township, totaling over 10,000 IDPs, according to people helping the IDPs.

In addition, more than 100 residents are trapped in Maibaw, Mantung Township, and more than 300 residents are trapped between Mongkoe and Mongsi in Kutkai Township, according to locals.

In addition, 11 people, including five children, were killed and 34 injured in fighting in northern Shan State in the five days from October 27 to November 1, according to locals.

In the current situation, there is a need for women's and children's accessories in addition to food, medicines, bed sheets, blankets, mosquito nets and clothes for war refugees.
