An explosion occurred in front of Ward (L) administrator’s office at the corner of Waibagi Road and Hninsi Street in South Oakkalapa Township at about 9pm on August 26 Yangon, local sources said.

Reports said that there might be some casualties but it could not be verified.

“The explosion occurred at about 9pm in Ward (L). I heard a loud explosion when I was passing through a nearby area. Some reported casualties while some talked about no deaths. As the ward is large, the office is always occupied with administrative members and those seeking guest registrations,” said a young local resident.

Some local media reported that the explosion might have killed about four people, but authorities did not release anything about the incident. The office was reopened on the morning of August 27.

Before the latest incident, about two explosions have already been reported in front of the ward administrator’s office, which is surrounded by barbed wires, tyres and sand bags.
