Election is a necessity in a multi-party democracy system and it is needed to be fair and independent, said Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Services in a formal message sent to a ceremony to mark the fifth anniversary of Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) on October 15.

People need to choose candidates who took interest to enact laws which can be good for the country, he said.

If only they choose the right candidates, it can fully fulfill democracy, peace and development desired by ethnics. Tatmadaw will build a country based on democracy and federal system in accordance with the desire of ethnics by joining hands with them, he said.

Moreover Myanmar has many political parties based on politics and ethics and they need to participate to build the country, he added.

In doing so, it will be beneficial for their areas and people and people need to consider it as a way to build a country based on democracy and federal system quickly, he continued.

In the democratic transition, it will be difficult if peace is not established. In a multi-party democracy system, peace processes and agreements need to be in line with democratic standards, he said.
