Efforts are being made to educate the children of families fleeing the conflict in northern Shan State, said Major General Zaw Min Tun, spokesman for the State Administration Council (SAC).

Major General Zaw Min Tun added the above while speaking about the war refugees in northern Shan State.

"Our government is also focusing on the education of families and children. We are also focusing on health issue. I would like to say that the government will work hard to restore peace and re-establishment in troubled areas," Major General Zaw Min Tun continued.

Maj. Gen. Zaw Min Tun continued that Senior General Min Aung Hlaing met with the people temporarily avoiding fighting during his visit to northern Shan State.

“The Senior General talked to those who avoided fighting from the Hsenwi and Lashio. As they are temporarily avoiding fighting, there are some problems including food and living. All social organizations are helping to solve these. However, what they concerned most is their children not going to school," Major General Zaw Min Tun said.

In addition, Major General Zaw Min Tun said that the fighting is still going on in the Namtsan area of northern Shan State and the east of Htigyaing in Sagaing Region on December 12.

"As for today's skirmishes, there is a skirmish in the Namtsan of northern Shan State. On the Sagaing Region side, there has been a skirmish in the eastern part of Htigyaing," said Maj. Gen. Zaw Min Tun.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) announced that more than 500,000 people have fled their homes due to the escalation of fighting in Myanmar since October 27.
