Dr Aung Moe Nyo sentenced to 2 years in prison with labour, new charge under Section 25

According to lawyers, Magway Region's Chief Minister Aung Moe Nyo was sentenced on June 7 to 2 years in prison with labour by the Magway Township court.

He is also further charged under Section 25 under the natural disaster management law.

"Dr Aung Moe Nyo was sentenced with the highest possible sentence. There is also the Section 25 case sued at the Pwint Phyu township court as well," said an attorney for Dr Aung Moe Nyo.

Dr Aung Moe Nyo was detained on the morning of February 1 at the public servant housing compound in Mangway's Nat Mauk Road. After about 10 days of house arrest, he was let go but was arrested again and placed in Magway Prison.
