Doctors arrested for opening emergency clinic in Monywa

An emergency clinic opened near Zawtika monastery in Monywa, Sagaing Region, by Myanmar Social rescue team was raided on March 1 morning and doctors and members of the team were arrested.

Military and police arrested them and detained them at the Monywa city hall.

“The make-shift hospital was opened near the near Zawtika monastery in Monywa to treat gunshot victims at the protests. We had no communication from the detained people. Three vehicles from the team were also seized. About 14 people including doctors and members were arrested,” said a person in charge of the medical rescue team.

Vehicles from the free funeral service from Monywa and rescue teams’ members were also arrested the previous days and they are not released yet. Police and military arrested peaceful protestors in Monywa till March 1.
