A community based facility quarantine plan will be systematically implemented for returnees from foreign countries to contain and control COVID-19 while special care must prioritize elderly people, pregnant women and disabled people, said Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Win Myat Aye.
The minister made the remark during a coordination meeting on the ministry’s participation in COVID-19 control and emergency response measures, the Ministry of Information reported.
At the meeting, the minister also called for use of technology to expose those who had close contact with the COVID-19 patients.
He then stressed the need for cooperation of region/ state governments, departments, the Red Cross Society, social organizations and non-governmental organizations in the prevention, control and treatment measures under the instruction of the National-Level Central Committee on Prevention, Control and Treatment of COVID-19.
“In cooperation with those organizations, we need to make lists of volunteers. The instructions on COVID-19 infection and prevention tasks must be clearly known while training is necessary to ensure skills and knowledge. There must be enough supplies of protective equipment and expenses must be calculated in advance. Moreover, educational measures must continue so the people know and follow the prescribed instructions, disciplines and existing laws.
In the afternoon, the minister held a video conference with departmental heads of regions and states including Nay Pyi Taw Council area, the Red Cross Society and women’s organizations under the control of All Myanmar Women’s Committee to discuss preventive and control measures.
