Yangon– China’s Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, is set to visit Myanmar on August 14 as part of his diplomatic tour of Southeast Asia, which also includes Thailand. The visit, spanning from August 14 to 17, was announced by China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During his time in Myanmar, Wang Yi is scheduled to meet with the Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC), However, Wang Yi is not scheduled to meet with Myanmar’s detained civilian leader, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.
The visit underscores China’s intention to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation across various sectors and to strengthen the longstanding friendship between the Chinese and Myanmar people. The Chinese Foreign Ministry emphasized that the visit is also aimed at promoting the construction of a China-Myanmar community with a shared future.
The outcomes of Wang Yi’s visit are likely to have significant implications for the future of China-Myanmar relations, especially in the context of regional stability and development.
