Some countries practising and protecting democracy have been directly or indirectly supporting and inciting armed terrorist acts that disrupt democracy and encourage dictatorship, said Chairman of the State Administration Council Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.

He made the remark during a speech at the celebration of the 8th Anniversary of the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) held in Nay Pyi Taw on October 15.

The Senior General also said the self-claimed supporters of democracy themselves committed voting fraud and opted for a terrorist path by taking up arms without settling legally and democratically.

“Certain countries which are said to be practising and protecting democracy have been directly or indirectly supporting and inciting armed terrorist acts which are total contrary to democracy. These actions delay the multiparty democracy system aspired by the Myanmar people and support the dictatorship which is democracy in name only. Everyone should be aware of that,” he commented.

He then promised his government would definitely continue to strive for the genuine disciplined multi-party democratic system aspired by the people.

As such, necessary preparations were being made for the holding of free and fair multiparty general elections, he added.
