Authorities order a lockdown to a street in South Oakkalapa

Authorities are ordered a lockdown to Marga 6th Street in South Oakkalapa Township as a seaman lived in the street was found infected with COVID-19 virus after he had a medical check-up at a clinic to embark, said MP Thit Thit Myint of No.1 South Oakkalapa Constituency.

“The authorities arrived in the street around 1 am and sent him to Waibargi hospital. His family members are still at home but the street is put on a lockdown. I heard he was infected with the COVID-19 virus after he tested positive,” she said.

MP Moe Myint of No.2 South Oakkalapa Constituency said he was found infected with the virus after he underwent a medical check-up at a clinic.

The 32-year old man had no travel history and no contact with COVID-19 confirmed patients, according to an announcement from the Ministry of Health and Sports.

A total of 15 people from the building he lived in and a restaurant, owned by his family in Thanthuma Road, were put on lockdown, he said.

Building No.21 in Shwe Ohn Pin housing in Yankin Township, where COVID-19 case-477 patient is lived, is also put on a lockdown, said MP Thein Zaw of No.2 Yankin Constituency.

“The patient arrived in Yangon from Taunggyi on August 2 and he went ill on August 15. He took medicines himself and went to Asia Royal Hospital on August 22 as he was still ill. The hospital transferred him to Yangon General Hospital. He was found infected with the COVID-19 virus on August 25 and sent to the isolation ward,” said the MP.

“The housing is big and many people are living there. So we put on a lockdown on his building only. The authorities arranged food for them,” he said.
