Elderly people in some villages, where cyclone shelters are located in Ayeyawaddy Region, are moved to cyclone shelters due to the news of the cyclone, according to locals.

“We have planned to move elderly people to the cyclone shelter in the village,” said Myo Khaing from Thakyar Hin Oo village.

At present, they are watching the news about the storm on the radio and online. Myo Khaing added that the situation was announced through a loudspeaker.

"Currently, we are announcing through loudspeakers about the news of the cyclone. We have arranged the elderly people to evacuate,” said Myo Khaing.

The rain is poured down and the tide is rising in the region, according to locals.

"The wind is not strong. The tide rises. It is raining. The water level is rising because of the storm. We are monitoring the water level,” said Myo Khaing.

According to the observations at 12:30 PM on March 21, the deep depression over North Andaman Sea and adjoining Southeast Bay of Bengal has moved North-Northeastwards. It is centered at about 95 Nautical miles South-Southeast of Coco Island, about 205 Nautical miles South of Hainggyikyun, about 255 Nautical miles South-Southwest of Pathein, about 270 Nautical miles West-Southwest of Dawei, about 285 Nautical miles West of Myeik, about 320 Nautical miles Southwest of Mawlamyine, about 290 Nautical miles South-Southwest of Yangon, about 275 Nautical miles North of Nicobar Islands (India) and about 85 Nautical miles Northeast of Port Blair (India), announced the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH).

It will move towards Myanmar coasts and the present stage of the depression is coded orange stage. The deep depression is likely to move Northwards along and off Andaman and Nicobar Islands and forecast to intensify into a cyclonic storm during next 12 hrs, it said.

It is forecasted to move near Hainggyikyun, Ayeyawady Region in the afternoon of March 22 and cross near Thandwe, Rakhine coast in the morning of March 23, according to the DMH.
