Joint departmental teams have been conducting public awareness campaigns on the odd–even vehicle usage system across townships in Yangon Region since the evening of March 11, according to reports.
The awareness campaign period has been set from March 7 to March 13. Authorities said that starting from March 14, those who violate the designated odd–even system will face legal action in accordance with relevant rules and regulations.
During the period of the 2026 university entrance examinations, vehicles assigned for exam duties and those transporting students to and from examination centers will be allowed to travel without restrictions related to the odd–even license plate system, the Ministry of Education said.
On March 3, the National Defence and Security Council’s Information Team issued a public announcement stating that, starting from March 7, private owned vehicles must follow the odd–even license plate system in an effort to conserve fuel. Under the system, vehicles with license plates ending in odd numbers are allowed to operate on odd-numbered dates, while those with even numbers are permitted to operate on even-numbered dates.
