Armed robbery at Mandalay gold shop leaves two injured

A brazen daylight robbery took place at the Shwe Nan Thu Kha gold shop in Mandalay at around 4 pm. on July 24, leaving two employees injured.

The incident occurred at the shop located between 39th, 84th, and 85th streets, near Manmyo Market in Maha Aung Myay Township. According to reports, three men and a woman arrived at the scene in a car and launched the robbery by opening fire.

One of the attackers reportedly stormed into the shop, firing a gun and forcing staff and customers to lie on the floor. The group then looted jewelry and cash estimated at around 3 million kyats from the glass display counters before fleeing the scene.

All the jewelry on display was stolen, and two shop employees sustained injuries during the shooting. Authorities are currently verifying the total amount of stolen gold and its value, and an investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the suspects.
