A total of 961 houses had been destroyed in Sagaing, Magway regions and Chin and Kachin states due to the armed conflict of 2022, announced the information team of the State Administration Council (SAC) on December 6.

On December 4, when security forces arrived near Kyauk Aik Village and Shwe Chaung Village, Htigyaing Township in Sagaing Region, the KIA and PDF started firing with small arms. The security forces returned fire, and the KIA and PDF retreated to the northeast of Kyauk Aik Village and the east of Shwe Chaung Village, it said.

During the incident, 60 out of 68 houses in Kyauk Aik Village and 80 out of 273 houses in Shwe Chaung Village were destroyed by fire, according to the statement.

In addition, when the security forces approached Ziphyukyin Village, Htigyaing Township in Sagaing Region at around 1:15 pm, the KIA and the PDF attacked them from inside the village using small and heavy weapons. The security forces returned fire, and the KIA and PDF retreated to the south of the village. During the incident, 30 out of 155 houses were destroyed by fire, it said.

Therefore, 683 houses in Sagaing Region, 28 houses in Magway Region, 220 houses in Chin State and 30 houses in Kachin State were destroyed due to armed conflicts in 2022, it said.
