A group of armed Chinese policemen entered Myanmar and prevented the construction of Sinphyu market committee building in Muse.

Sinphyu market committee building is under construction in Kaung Hmu Ton ward, Muse district in northern Shan State. The aforementioned armed group of Chinese, some armed and some not, in uniform crossed over to Myanmar side without any prior notice and prevented the construction of the building. The case occurred on 8: 10 am on October 17.

13 policemen wearing full guerrilla uniforms and armed with weapons and 17 unarmed men, a total of 30 Chinese entered Myanmar without any notification whatsoever and said to stop construction activities and objected to the construction of Sinphyu market committee building despite having no jurisdiction in another country’s territory.

But, the construction was already approved by Myanmar side. The committee office building was being constructed near “Garbage Lake” along Sinphyu market circular road. It is 33 feet long, 20 feet wide and 13 feet high. After saying objection, they left Myanmar at 8:40 am.

“ What they claimed was that the buildng was being built upon grounds that both countries have agreed on having no buildings there. We will have to review their objection. But, we couldn’t accept the act of China entering Myanmar armed and in uniform. Concerning that, we’ve complained of the matter through administrative committee of border committee,” said Muse district deputy administrator U Okka.

“There are 20 Chinese wearing commando uniform and 10 wearing police uniform entered Myanmar.  They demanded construction workers to stop. At that time, we informed the matter to our superiors. We argued with them (the Chinese group) for like 20 minutes. But, they came into our country with carrying weapons. Next, 3 light tanks parked near their border fence. The construction site is between mile post 81 and 82,” said Win Myint, vice-chairman of the Sinphyu market committee.

A letter objecting for entering Myanmar with armed was sent to foreign affairs department of Shweli in China.
