The Amarapura Township General Administration Department has issued an order banning two men from riding a motorcycle, and banning a woman from driving in front and a man seated behind in the township.

"It was announced on September 29, and when the office opens, the respective ward and village administration offices will be notified by mail. It has been announced that two men riding a motorcycle or a woman driving in front and a man sitting behind will not be allowed," said a person close to local authorities.

In the order, however, the motorcycle can be driven by two women, and men driving in front and women sitting behind are allowed.

The order came after basic education schools, governmental buildings and homes had been frequently attacked with gunfire and grenades by those diving a motorbike.  This order also states that if motorcyclists fail to comply with the rules, they will be prosecuted according to the existing laws.
