After one of the security guards for the Yangon Region chief minister had tested positive for Covid-19, all cabinet members had to undergo testing but they tested negative, said Region Minister for Immigration and Human Resources Moe Moe Su Kyi.
“We ministers have all tested negative for the virus. Family members of the patient have tested positive as they had close contact. They all have been sent to Aung Myint Mo (treatment center) for treatment. All other staffers also had their tests,” the minister said.
As one of the security guards of Chief Minister Phyo Min Thein was infected with the virus, the compound of the region government office is on lockdown, said a high-ranking officer from Myanmar Police Force.
The movement of those living in the office compound is being restricted except for health reasons.
The chief minister, his government ministers and office staff had their Covid-19 tests on October 6 while the families living in the office compound received tests on October 7.
In the first wave of the outbreak, Yangon Region Minister for Social Affairs Naing Ngan Lin used to go into home quarantine.
The whole Yangon Region is under the stay-at-home order as it sees most Covid-19 cases.
