Acting President and Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, said that Myanmar would continue along the path of a multi-party democracy chosen by the people after the upcoming December elections. He warned that if political forces only focus on disputes and confrontation, the country will not fully enjoy progress and development. Stability and political awareness, he emphasized, are essential for peace.

Speaking to accompanying media on his return flight from China on September 6, following a working visit from August 30 at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing highlighted the outcomes of his trip. He said he had met with business leaders in Tianjin and Chengdu, while Myanmar ministers held discussions to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation.

He stressed that Myanmar should not rely only on imports but must increase domestic production and exports. To achieve this, the country needs skilled human resources, which depend on a strong education system. “Education is the foundation. With better education, we will have more expertise, and only then can we effectively cooperate and compete,” he said.

During talks, Chinese businesses asked whether Myanmar could provide enough local workers. Senior General Min Aung Hlaing noted that according to Myanmar’s laws, jobs in foreign enterprises must be given to Myanmar citizens. Therefore, he said, Myanmar must develop its human resources and maintain stability to support future cooperation.

He concluded that Myanmar’s position will remain unchanged: the country must strive for peace, stability, and development through political awareness and practical efforts.
