Amongst the top models that tread the high fashion runways, M Seng Lu is one that has it all; a beautiful face, the perfect body and catlike grace. She had also kept her line of work pure with nearly a decade of professional modelling but had expressed interest in becoming an actress if offers were made to her in the future and the character fits her.
Below are excerpts from an interview about fond memories from her homeland Kachin and life as a top tier model.
A Kachin ethnic, M Seng L was born in Myitkyina, Kachin State on March 24, 1993. She has four siblings and say that there are many things she find memoralbe as part of her childhood.
“When I was just a kindergartener, the family moved to Yangon and I had a lot of problems speaking with others. A lot of fond memories just from that alone.”
She describes her younger self as extremely playful and a voracious eater.
M Seng Lu completed her high school in Latha (2), continuing on to attend East Yangon University. While average academically, she’s had a knack for the entertainment industry since being at a young age but did not make too much effort to pursue it. However, since she is a Christian, she is a regular at plays and talent shows held by the churches and the community; even claiming that much of her young experience performing can be attributed to the church.
Her first step in as a professional came in the form of a “May & Mark” calendar shoot, effectively starting her modelling career in 2011. Since then, she’d faced and overcome many challenges.
“There are a lot of challenges. So much has changed from back when I started and now. There are a lot of changes that make the industry more systematic and generally better. When I started, the practice was that we the models have to prepare everything ourselves. Now from stylists to make-up artists are there so we can concentrate more on improving our professionalism. That is one amongst many positive changes."
Looking back at nearly 10 years of photoshoots, runways and so on, she expressed pride and satisfaction that she did her very best - promising her fans to always give her very best in the future. While she concentrates most on her modelling career, she already is shooting commercial and expressed an interest in starring in a movie as a character that will fit her.
For her love life, she simply just laughs it off and say it as it is.
“I will always keep giving it my best for any and all the jobs that I decide to do. I will also work towards fixing my flaws. I thank all the fans that have supported me from day one throughout my journey from the bottom of my heart.”
Despite facing setbacks and having unfortunately undergone an accident in a modelling show, she had not been deterred and was fast in getting back on track to even more success. As one of the most well known models in the country, one of her goals is to also penetrate the international market. She is also getting her acting chops in order for future film roles.
She is also collaborating with a local fashion brand Cerious which will be named Lulu nation, starting off with a T-Shirt collection with M Seng Lu herself appearing in them. They are designed together with Designer Yoko-san. It is expected to launch next month.
M Seng Lu also says that she will also be participating in a fashion show that Cerious will be a part of.
