The 88 Generation Peace and Open Society issued a statement on February 5 calling on the people of Myanmar to seek all possible ways to show resistance to the military coup and launch collaborative campaigns.

The statement is entitled “Urgent Message to Myanmar People and signed by Min Ko Naing and Jimmy.

A series of various campaigns have surfaced in defiance of military regime ranging from sticker campaigns, demonstrations to pop banging, it says.

Civil servants are also defying the dictatorship in various ways such as resigning, wearing red ribbons and participating a civil disobedience movement. All of them deserve praise and honour, the statement says.  

Moreover, there will be various protests to be organized by workers, farmers and students all over the country. and all the protest will be combined as one in near future.

There will also be ongoing campaign leaflets spreading down to faraway villages.

These protests and civil disobedience campaigns in full swing will force the military regime to unable to operate government functions and its administrative machinery will slow and come to an end ultimately, the statement says.

It also calls for boycott of all products and services owned by the military. Even beer, cigarettes and phone SIM produced by the military must be boycotted.
