29 political parties including seven at union level have applied for registration: UEC

Twenty nine political parties had applied for their registrations till March 17, according to a statement issued by the Union Election Commission (UEC).

Two more parities namely People’s Labour Party and Akha National Development Party wishing to continue to stand as political parties in accord with Section 25 of the Political Parties Registration Law applied to the UEC for registration in accord with the law and rules on March 17. 

The UEC said till March 17, there had been six parties that applied in accord with Section 3 of the law and 23 parties that applied in accord with Section 25 of the law bringing the total number of parties that have applied for their registration to 29.

Among those 29 parties, seven will conduct their election campaigns across the union while 22 others will canvass in their respective single regions or states. Now, the UEC is scrutinizing their applications for registration.
