260 foreigners deported to Thailand from DKBA-controlled border area

The Democratic Karen Buddhist Army (DKBA) handed over 260 foreigners who had arrived in Kyauk Khat Village, south of Myawady, to Thai authorities on the evening of February 12.

The DKBA sent back 260 men and 39 women from various countries who were working or being deceived in the online scam businesses to Thailand, and the Thai military accepted them.

The Thai authorities reportedly prepared ten military vehicles and eight security vehicles to receive the foreigners.

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) requested the repatriation of the foreigners to Thailand in connection with the human trafficking case in Myawady District, Kayin State, and the Phop Phra District Police Station, Border Guard Police Division, and the Tak District Social Development and Human Security Office worked together.

According to reports from Thailand, the 260 individuals deported included 16 Filipinos, 23 Kenyans, one Tanzanian, two Brazilians, 138 Ethiopians, 12 Pakistanis, two Bangladeshis, seven Nepalese, one Cambodian, one Sri Lankan, six Ugandans, seven Taiwanese, six Laotians, eight Indonesians, two Burundians, one Nigerian, one Ghanaian, one Indian, 15 Malaysians, and 10 Chinese.
