Thirteen illegal Myanmar migrant workers and three persons that brought them were arrested in Suksamra region, Thailand, at about 6.30 am on 26 August.

 On 26 August morning while the Suksarma region police force was patrolling, they inspected a motor vehicle carrying six Myanmar workers (three males and three females) without evidential documents, and upon interrogation they were found to have come illegally and were apprehended.

 Upon further interrogating those arrested, it was learnt that there could be other motor vehicles bringing illegal workers the regional authorities went to Nakha village area and found three motorcycle carriers with four male and three female Myanmar workers without any supporting evidence and three persons that had brought them. They were then arrested. The total number apprehended was 13 illegal Myanmar migrant workers and three persons that had brought them.

Ko Soe Lin Aung, residing in Bangkok, who handles the workers' affairs, said that those who come illegally run the risk of being caught and being shot at in the jungles. So they should come legally only by means of MoU.

He added that Myanmar nationals coming in illegally run the risk of being arrested or being killed. He said that brokers bring them in with high hopes, but if they fail to get to the workplace they lose double. They should come legally through the means of MoU though it took three to four months.
