A Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister U Tin Aung San, Adviser for National Security Affairs and Union Minister for the Office of the President, visited Belarus from September 14 to 19 and held discussions on security and counterterrorism issues, according to reports.
At the invitation of Mr. Aleksandr Volfovich, Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus, the Union Minister and his delegation departed Yangon on the morning of September 14 and arrived in Minsk at 1:45 a.m. local time on September 15. They were welcomed at Minsk International Airport by a delegation led by Dmitry Viktorovich Ryabihin, Director of the Department of External Security Relations under the Office of the Security Council of Belarus, together with the Myanmar Ambassador to Belarus.
That evening, the delegation visited the Great Patriotic War Museum in Belarus.
On the morning of September 16, the delegation visited the Victory Monument in Minsk and laid a wreath in tribute.
The delegation then met with Mr. Ivan Tertel, Chairman of the State Security Committee of Belarus, at the President Hotel. They discussed security cooperation, information sharing and exchanges of experience, cybersecurity cooperation, and training matters.
Afterward, officials led by Belarusian Minister of Internal Affairs Ivan Kubrakov briefed the Myanmar delegation at the Ministry of Internal Affairs on the training being provided to counterterrorism forces.
The delegation subsequently held discussions at the headquarters of the Special Forces on security matters between the two countries, counterterrorism, information sharing and training programs.
In the evening, the delegation met with Mr. Aleksandr Volfovich, Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus, at the President Hotel. Discussions covered Myanmar-Belarus bilateral relations; cooperation in defense and security; narcotics and online scams; matters related to the Eurasian Charter; trade and investment; education, healthcare and tourism; and cooperation on regional and international issues.
The Myanmar delegation also attended a state dinner hosted by the Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus at the President Hotel.
On the morning of September 17, the delegation visited the Military Academy of Belarus. Major General Sobol Dmitry, Deputy Commandant of the academy, briefed the delegation on the periodic training courses being conducted, academic subjects being taught, and arrangements for receiving domestic and foreign trainees. The delegation also observed the academy's training activities.
In the afternoon, the delegation visited the State Forensic Examination Center under the State Forensic Examination Committee, where the rector and officials provided briefings.
The delegation then met with teams led by Mr. Alexei Volkov, Chairman of the State Forensic Examination Committee. Discussions focused on crime prevention and investigation, forensic examination and the identification and analysis of evidence, training programs, and cooperation among relevant organizations.
On the morning of September 18, the delegation visited the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Belarus and met with a delegation led by Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations Mr. Sergey Salanovich. Discussions covered rescue operations following building collapses caused by natural disasters and road accidents; inspections of safety standards at factories, workshops and chemical storage facilities; rehabilitation and recovery measures; and areas for cooperation.
The delegation also visited the Safety Education Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
The Union Minister and his delegation departed Minsk, Belarus, on the evening of September 18 and returned to Yangon on the evening of September 19.
