A Myanmar military delegation led by Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services General Ye Win Oo visited the National Aviation Museum of the Royal Thai Air Force in Bangkok on the afternoon of August 21, following the delegation’s participation in the 9th Thailand–Myanmar High-Level Committee Meeting.
The delegation visited the National Aviation Museum of the Royal Thai Air Force in Don Mueang District, where officials provided explanations of the exhibits displayed both inside and outside the museum.
The delegation viewed various aircraft, fighter jets and helicopters, as well as historic aircraft formerly used by members of the Thai royal family and distinguished guests. They also observed flight simulators, aviation communication equipment, weapons and equipment, and the evolution of military uniforms.
The National Aviation Museum of the Royal Thai Air Force, located at Don Mueang Royal Thai Air Force Base, was established in 1952 to collect, preserve and restore aircraft and other aviation-related equipment formerly used by the Royal Thai Air Force.
Among the exhibits are the Baribatra Bomber, Thailand’s first domestically designed and produced bomber, as well as rare World War II-era aircraft including the Curtiss Hawk III and Tachikawa Ki-36. The museum also displays F-5A, F-16A and Gripen fighter aircraft, military helicopters and transport aircraft.
In addition, exhibits include airbase equipment, communications devices, historical air force uniforms, military communications equipment and an aviation library.
On August 20, the Myanmar military delegation also visited the Royal Thai Armed Forces Development Command in Bangkok.
At the command headquarters, the Director-General of the Royal Development Projects Office welcomed the delegation and a documentary on the history of the headquarters was screened.
The delegation subsequently toured exhibitions documenting the history of the Thai monarchs, water management and development projects implemented under royal initiatives and development study centres.
They also observed displays featuring infrastructure development data and project progress in border areas covered by the development project network, including maps and monitoring systems. Other exhibits included emergency rescue machinery, communications and technology facilities, and an exhibition on the Counter-Terrorism Operations Centre.
The Myanmar military delegation departed Thailand aboard a special military aircraft on the evening of August 21 and arrived back at Nay Pyi Daw Airport.
The delegation was welcomed at the airport by Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and Commander-in-Chief (Army) General Kyaw Swar Lin, Commander-in-Chief (Air) General Tun Win, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, the Nay Pyi Taw Command commander, and officials from the Thai Military Attaché Office in Myanmar.
