Kachin State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan inspected the ongoing rehabilitation of the Myitkyina–Mohnyin railway section in Mohnyin District on June 23, according to local sources.
During the inspection, he reviewed track and station repair works at Nanma, Hopin and Sar Hmaw stations, as well as the reconstruction of Bridge No. 611 at Mile Post 642/17-18 between Nanma and Myothit Kalay stations, which had been damaged by landmines. He also inspected Bridge No. 615 at Mile Post 645/10-11 between Nanma and Myothit Kalay stations and Bridge No. 627 between Hopin and Nankwhin stations and examined the completion of steel-frame installation and track-laying works. The Chief Minister presented awards to personnel involved in the project.
He also met with local residents and briefed them on preparations to resume railway operations by July.
According to the Kachin State Government Office, rehabilitation of the 52.25-mile railway section between Mogaung and Mohnyin has been underway since March 2026, with repair works at four stations and several bridges already completed.
