A Grade 6 student was killed after being stabbed during a fight with another student in Amarapura Township, Mandalay, on 23 June, according to reports.
The incident occurred in front of a post-primary school in Ward No. 4 of Kala Village, where the two students, both aged 15, became involved in an argument that escalated into a physical altercation.
During the fight, one student allegedly stabbed the other in the right side of the neck with a knife. The injured student was rushed to Mandalay General Hospital for treatment but later died from his injuries.
“The two students got into a dispute that escalated in the heat of the moment. Unfortunately, it resulted in a fatal stabbing. There do not appear to be any other underlying motives. We are proceeding in accordance with the law,” a Mandalay Region police official said.
The student accused of carrying out the stabbing is being prosecuted under Section 302 of the Penal Code at Myitnge Police Station in Amarapura Township, authorities said.
