Myanmar and Cambodia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in the tourism sector during the Mekong Tourism Forum 2026 in Yangon.

The forum, hosted by Myanmar under the theme “Tourism for People, Travel with Purpose,” is being held at the Pan Pacific Yangon from 14 to 19 June.

On 16 June, Myanmar’s Union Minister for Hotels, Tourism and Culture U Maung Myint, met Cambodian Minister of Tourism H.E. Huot Hak for discussions on regional tourism cooperation. The two ministers later signed the bilateral tourism cooperation MoU.

Both sides also attended a Myanmar–Cambodia tourism promotion roadshow, where tourism officials presented travel opportunities in their respective countries and showcased promotional videos highlighting key destinations.

The ministers additionally toured the Greater Mekong Subregion Food Fair and attended a welcome dinner for tourism leaders, delegates and partner organisations participating in the forum.
