A 36-year-old man was arrested in Hinthada Township on June 13 on suspicion of being a fugitive wanted in connection with a murder case in Thailand, according to police sources.

The suspect was detained on the morning of June 13 and is currently under investigation by the police.

The case stems from the discovery by Thai police of the dismembered body of a 34-year-old Myanmar woman in a plastic container at a house on Ratchathewi Road in Din Daeng District, Thailand. Initial reports identified the suspect as Aung Pe, a 35-year-old Myanmar national, and Thai authorities are seeking his arrest under warrant No. 3342/2569 in cooperation with immigration officials.

A police officer said the investigation was launched after information about the case was shared on June 12, 2026, by the Facebook page Hinthada Myo Sone Si Ya through an account named Ko Aent Gyi.

On the morning of June 13, a joint team comprising the officer in charge of Hinthada Police Station, police personnel and the administrator of Myawady Ward conducted a search at Aung Pe’s residence on Thida Road in Myawady Ward, Hinthada. The suspect, who had reportedly been working as a chef at a pub in Thailand, was taken into custody and brought to the police station for further questioning, the officer said.
